Longevity is one of the major focal points for innovation at SEQENS. Aware of the important role played by social connections in longevity and “healthy aging” in Blue Zones, SEQENS decided to study whether parallels could be drawn at skin level. The company's Research & Innovation Department investigated two major factors identified as contributing to longevity—true social connection and food factor—with a focus on getto leaves, emblematic of the Okinawan Diet. Getto leaf extract was thus studied for its ability to improve skin structure connections, capitalizing on the analogy between “skin connections” and “social connection” the level of individuals. By studying the consequences of aging at tissue and cellular level, the research teams aimed to identify biological pathways liable to promote “healthy skin aging”.

Studies therefore show that this plant, getto (Alpinia speciosa) in addition to its nutritional effect, also had a beneficial cutaneous effect by promoting tissue and cellular connections, while giving the skin a healthy appearance. Evolu'age thus represents a botanical active cosmetic ingredient which falls within the scope of the “healthy aging” skincare product segment. Hence, these products no longer try, in vain, to make time stand still, but rather embrace the passing of time by promoting healthy aging.
