Explanation
The principal components of the plant are anthraquinonic heterosides: barbaloïn, isobarbaloïn and aloe-emodin. The juice is also rich in polysaccharides, amino-acids and organic acid (malic acid and citric acid).
Known since the Antiquity by the Egyptians and the Chinese for its healing properties on the deep burns and wounds, the aloe vera would have been used by cleopatra to preserve the softness and the beauty of its skin.
It is now recognized for its lenitive and hydrating effects and it is used in the formulation of solar products, lip balsams and care creams.
