Introduction

Native to eastern Europe and Western Asia, German chamomile abundantly  grows in the country, on the road sides and in dry meadows of temperate regions. The ‘compasionate composite’, also called wild chamomile or scented  mayweed, offers small flowers with various white petals and a golden yellow heart.  The flowers, as well as the greyish leaves, are sweet-scented and exhale a  strong honey smell.

Explanation

Chamomile is appreciated since the mists of time for its fragrance and is also  used for its thousand benefits. It was present in Ancient Greece and was yet  studied for its exceptional curative virtues, notably for its action on headaches.  


Chamomile also appears in Nordic mythology, in Scandinavia. Indeed, this plant  is one of the nine sacred ones that were given to the mankind by Odin, the sky  god. Today, this plant still have kept the image of a ‘precious remedy’, given by the  doctors of yesteryear. Nowadays, chamomile is used to treat various diseases in  adults and young children.
